Responsibilities:  The primary purpose of the Second Processing Shift Lead is to be responsible for plant effectiveness and efficiency for the 2nd Processing Department.  Specifically to:
  • Provide direction, training, coaching to team leads and indirectly to hourly production associate achieve company established goals on production activities; meet all departmental operational plans to ensure yield, birds per man-hour, pounds per man-hour, line efficiency, CSI, QI  requirements are met
  • Establish, measure, and will be accountable for departmental operating budgets for the assigned area
  • Provide a safe and secure working environment for all associates utilizing company-approved processes
  • Promote a positive working relationship with the production and support staff to make the company an employer of choice
  •  Improve safety results as measured by the Safety Scorecard
 
Requirements
A minimum of a 4 year college degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Engineering, or related field of study plus at least 5 years of related food industry experience (poultry strongly preferred.)  Specific requirements include:
  • Experience with various industry accepted procedures, including HACCP, SPC, etc.,
  • Knowledge of measurements of plant efficiency as it relates to yield, lbs/birds pmh, line speeds, and automatic processing equipment
  • Associate development – ability to supervise and recognize training needs for the operation as well as the associates and the willingness to support those needs and develop associates.
  • Planning – an ability to think ahead and plan over a 1 to 3 year time span
  • Process Development – ability to develop and institute protocols and processes, ability to organize multiple protocols / projects and complete on schedule
  • Problem Solving – ability to analyze and resolve problems at both a strategic and functional level
  • Communication – ability to communicate to all levels of the organization and a commitment to excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team Building- knowledge of and a commitment to Team performance, effective coaching and demonstrated skills of a strong team player.
